Public notes FAQ great notes examples

  • what? All of these are Patterns/Conventions I use in my notes

  • why you don’t…

    • use headings? - I hate them
      • strange behaviors when folding stuff
      • takes too much brain power to make them (### = heading 3)
      • Titles take space and time. Not very practical even if stylish
        • you need to write a specific amount of to get the right behavior or style
        • some titles are just too big compared to lists
        • Like this

        • or this

        • VS a normal bullet list
      • Lists instead…
        • separate close paragraphs
        • has a minimal style
        • organize without taking much space
          • remember to never have more than 4 items when making lists so you’ll remember and organize stuff better
      • just fold the lists and here you go, you have “headings”
      • BUT the outline view from the right bar won’t work using only lists
        • by default, only headings are supported
    • have so few folders? complexity & friction I don’t need
      • I have a folder system in my private notes but it’s not so complex
  • Condensing info make me process/remember it much better

    • try to have only 1 line paragraphs, no bigger than that
    • don’t go over 4 items in any kind of list
    • always separate/group whenever it makes sense
  • To determine importance I use…

    • numbered lists
    • spaces & dividers
      • under that divider starts a less important list of items, in this case Productivity and Mind (still important items in that context/image)
  • source mentioning

    • general sources
      • src
      • fonte (it’s Italian and it means “source”)
    • specific
      • w website
      • g github
      • v video
  • link/upgrade/delete old notes whenever needed, not periodically

  • related notes - almost always mentioned at the top of the note

  • archived - stuff I no longer count as relevant

    • there just because I don’t want to delete them/archival reasons
    • almost always at the bottom of the file
